That's just from the top of my head, but i'm sure there's more. That will make the style more attractive and tactically interesting(with added benefit of making people actually use "swordfighter" mercenaries). Or an automatic counter-attack on a successful parry. Yes, there is the benefit of being able to parry ranged attacks with a shield(at least, it seems so), but it really is a mixed blessing, as ranged attacks(coupled with AI choosing suboptimal distances to engage) will just deplete your parry, which you might need in melee.Ī suggestion: let shield-fighters have more than one parry attempt. They don't deal as much damage as two-handed and dual-wield fighters can, don't have the "walking debuff" quality to them, as spear and dagger fighters do, and their defense values are only marginally higher than those of dual-wielders, if at all. Weapon+Shield fighters seem lackluster, especially with the Defense mechanics. Same with Body Control - again, at least on normal, seeing how all traps that could make you want to have this skill are easily avoided, if one takes this, it's for avoiding knockdowns in combat, however, i can think of only two enemy types that use knockdown attacks, and only one of those is met more than once. At least on normal, there is no map with traps higher than tier 2, so having Perception higher than 2 is only of value if one wants to dump excess adventure points somewhere and still recieve at least some +stats(initiative and ranged offense in this case). Metagame wise, Perception and Body Control are also a bit strange. What's more, among the information they provide about enemies, the most important thing - armor values and resistances - is missing. Lore skills face the same problem as they did in the first game - the benefit they provide, while costing the same as other skills, is trivial and unneccessary. Some abilities, skills and fighting styles are still much less desirable than others: I've noticed that some of you are active on this board, so i thought i'd commend you on a job well done! Game mechanics are more streamlined, and as a result - much more solid, battles are more varied(and still unfair as all hell), the story is much stronger(not that there is something wrong with the story of the first game), the writing is consistently superb, and Cassias' voice actress does an amazingly awesome job(really, really awesome).īut seeing how you seem to appreciate feedback and constructive criticism, i also thought i'd put in my few cents.
